Commitment to World-Class Cancer Care in Nepal

Every life has been directly or indirectly affected by cancer. Some lost the battle against it, some are fighting it, some survived it and some are supporting those who are fighting and those who survived. The fight against cancer is one of the most daunting challenges faced by people all around the world, and Nepal is no exception.

However, in a low-resource country like ours, building the infrastructure and preparing human resources to battle against cancer has not been a priority and quality of care is being compromised. According to the World Health Organization, by 2020, there will be an expected 15 million new cancer cases every year, with almost 60% of these new cases occurring in less developed parts of the world like ours.

Nepal Cancer Hospital & Research Center is our effort to prepare the country for this inevitability. As the first comprehensive cancer center established by the private sector to provide affordable and international level of quality care to patients and families from all around Nepal, the hospital focuses not just on treatment, but also on preventive oncology, palliative oncology, education and research on cancer.

Our approach to cancer management is holistic and comprehensive, with the total treatment plan decided by a multidisciplinary team of experts. Together with the medical issues, we also take into consideration the psycho-social, financial, and religious needs of the patient and families, and focus on all dimensions of care, from preventative to palliative.

Since its early days, the center has been striving to set the standard of cancer care in our country while teaching the next generation of providers. With a clear vision, committed staff, and state-of-the-art facilities we are well on our way to becoming a nationally preeminent cancer center and to generate new knowledge that helps us not just to cure cancer today, but to prevent it in the next generation.
