Prof. Dr. Prakash Nidhi Tiwari is a Senior Consultant and Head of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Department of Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. After completing Doctor of Medicine (MD) from the Peoples’ Friendship University, Moscow, USSR (presently the Russian Peoples’ Friendship University) in 1987, he completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Child Health from the Tribhuvan University Institute of Medicine in 1994 and a three year Fellowship in Pediatric Hematology Oncology from the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles, University of Southern California in 2007. He joined the Ministry of Health of Nepal as a Medical Officer in January, 1988 to work his way up the ministerial ladder in the different hospitals around the country, especially Kanti Children’s Hospital, to become a Senior Medical Officer, a Consultant Pediatrician, a Senior Consultant Pediatrician/Pediatric Hematologist Oncologist, Head of the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Department of Kanti Children’s Hospital and Chief Consultant Pediatrician(11th Grade) until his retirement from the Ministry of Health in August, 2018. Besides treating patients, training different health personnel, during his tenure at different levels and as the Head of Pediatric Hematology Oncology at Kanti Children’s Hospital under the Ministry of Health, he helped establish the infrastructure and a state of the art treatment protocols and supportive care for the many children with different cancers and blood diseases coming to the hospital from all over Nepal. He has specialist registrations in the Nepal Medical Council in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology Oncology. After his retirement as Chief Consultant(11th Grade) from the Ministry of Health he joined Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Centre as Senior Consultant and Head of Pediatric Hematology Oncology and Karnali Academy Of Health Sciences as Professsor of Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology Oncology to continue treating children with different cancers and blood diseases and training manpower in the field.
