MEET OUR EXPERT

Kabita Maharzan is a dedicated clinical nutritionist with a strong academic and professional background in food and nutrition. She is currently pursuing her PhD at Lincoln University College, Malaysia, building on her Master’s Degree in Food and Nutrition and a Bachelor’s in Health Education from Tribhuvan University. With more than a decade of practice in clinical nutrition since 2009, she has cultivated expertise across diverse areas of dietetics, nutrition research, therapeutic food service management, and audit systems, with a special interest in oncology nutrition. Her professional journey includes experience with a wide range of institutions such as CWIN, Personal Care International, Council of Community Health Services, Diabetes, Thyroid and Endocrinology Care Center, B\&B Nursing Institute, KHAMSON, and Alka Nursing College. This combination of clinical and academic involvement has allowed her to develop a well-rounded perspective on nutrition, both in patient care and education. Currently, she leads the Dietetics and Nutrition Unit at Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center, where she focuses on integrating nutrition into cancer care and advocating for oncology dietetics in Nepal. Kabita has actively contributed to the field through numerous publications in national and academic journals, health magazines, and newspapers, while also presenting papers at SFO-N and other national programs. Her vision is to establish an Oncology Dietetics and Nutrition Hub in Nepal, promoting evidence-based nutrition practices and advancing the role of dietetics in cancer care. Guided by her belief in the possibility of improving nutrition practices in Nepal, she continues to contribute as a clinician, researcher, and advocate in the field.
