Consultant Radiation Oncologist

Dr. Karmacharya is a dedicated Radiation Oncologist committed to advancing evidence-based radiotherapy and raising the standard of cancer care in Nepal to an international level. Practicing as a specialist since 2013, she has made significant contributions in both clinical care and academic research. Originally from Pokhara, Dr. Karmacharya completed her MBBS from Nepal Medical College, Kathmandu, followed by her post-graduation in Radiation Oncology from the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), Kathmandu. To further strengthen her expertise, she pursued a two-year fellowship at Tata Medical Center, Kolkata, India, where she gained advanced training in modern radiation oncology techniques. She also received the prestigious ‘ABMF Karim Gold Medal’ in 2013 and later completed a UICC Fellowship in Stereotactic Radiotherapy at VUMC, Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 2022. Her professional journey began at Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, after which she undertook her fellowship in India. Upon returning to Nepal in 2016, she joined the Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center, where she continues to serve with dedication. Alongside her clinical work, she has been actively involved in research and academic activities, contributing to the advancement of radiotherapy practices in Nepal. She is also actively engaged in professional societies, serving as an Executive Member of NESTRO (Nepalese Association of Radiation Oncologists), a Member of the SAARC Federation of Oncologists–Nepal (SFON), and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). She is also a Founder Member of Prevent Cancer (PRECAN), reflecting her deep commitment to cancer prevention and awareness. Through her clinical excellence, academic involvement, and leadership in professional organizations, Dr. Karmacharya continues to play a key role in shaping the future of radiation oncology in Nepal.
