Dr. Rishi Ram Poudel is a highly skilled Orthopedic Oncologist with a special interest in performing limb salvage surgeries for malignant bone and soft tissue sarcomas. He obtained both his M.B.B.S and M.S. Orthopedics degrees from the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he also developed a strong academic and surgical foundation. Over the years, Dr. Poudel has honed his expertise by working in exclusive Orthopedic Oncology departments at AIIMS New Delhi, the University of Malaya, Malaysia, and Max Institute of Cancer Care, New Delhi. His clinical and academic contributions include numerous research articles in international indexed journals and authorship of three chapters in international orthopedic and oncology textbooks. Dr. Poudel’s outstanding work has been recognized through several prestigious awards, including the Geeta Mittal Medal & Book Prize for Best Clinical Research (2013, AIIMS New Delhi), First Prize in Ponsetti Casting Competition at the National Clubfoot Conference (2015, New Delhi), and the Michiyo Takumi Yonezawa Award for Best Paper Presentation (Young Orthopaedic Surgeon) at Orthocon 2017, the annual meeting of the Nepalese Orthopedic Association. His extensive list of publications covers diverse aspects of orthopedic oncology and musculoskeletal disorders, including clinical outcomes of osteosarcoma, multicentric giant cell tumors treated with denosumab, the role of intra-operative communication in musculoskeletal tumor surgeries, recurrence predictors in osteosarcoma, compliance studies in clubfoot patients, pediatric orthopedic pathologies, and innovative surgical experiences. In addition, his collaborative works extend into areas such as rheumatoid bursitis, plantar fasciitis, spinal tuberculosis, and pediatric hip joint tuberculosis, making him a versatile researcher and clinician. He has also contributed to landmark book chapters including Congenital Deformities in Turek’s Orthopaedics: Principles and Their Applications (7th Edition), Limb Salvage in India in Sarcoma: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Treatment, and Endoprosthetic Reconstruction Following Tumor Excision Around the Knee in Complex Primary Total Knee Arthroplasty. Dr. Poudel is actively registered with both the Delhi Medical Council (DMC/R/6851) and the Nepal Medical Council (Specialist Registration No. 16716), reflecting his recognition and practice across international boundaries.
