Dr. Sudip, Chairman of Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center (NCHRC) is a visionary and a pioneer in the field of Oncology in Nepal. His “Dream Project” of a Comprehensive Cancer Center in Nepal that provides quality Cancer Care was realized in 2015 when NCHRC was established under his leadership as an Executive Chairman.

Before NCHRC, Dr. Shrestha worked as Medical Director and HOD of Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital, helping establish and run this important public hospital, and also played an instrumental role in establishing the Om Cancer Care Centre, the dedicated cancer care wing of a popular private hospital in Nepal. His passion for comprehensive cancer care has led him to envision and set up many organizations dedicated to academic, palliative or other aspects of cancer care. As founding president, he provided the vision and energy for the establishment of Nepalese Association of Palliative Care (NAPCare 2009) and the Nepal Cancer Support group (NCSG 2009). He is also a founder member of Om Health Foundation, a voluntary organization to help poor patients.

As the country’s leading expert on cancer, he has been involved in numerous cancer activities as speaker, teacher, organizer, researcher, or founder. Dr. Shrestha continues being bold and visionary in tackling cancer in Nepal, and wants to help make cancer treatment and control a part of the country’s national health policy, and help cover cancer patients under a national health insurance policy.

(Dr. Bijesh Raj Ghimire, MBBS,MD)

Dr Bijesh earned his MBBS from BVU, India and MD in Medical Oncology from Sun Yat-Sen University, China and carries an experience of more than a decade in Medical oncology. He has done fellowship in Medical Oncology from Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Center (RGCIRC), New Delhi and National Cancer Institute (NCI), Bethesda, USA. He has published various articles in international and national journals and has done oral, poster presentations in various national and international conferences.
He is a recipient of International Development and Education Award 2009 (IDEA) at Orlando and International Development and Education Award in Palliative Care 2011, (IDEA-PC) at Chicago from American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). He was also recognized as Global Cancer Ambassador from Nepal in 2011 by American Cancer Society (ACS) to raise cancer voice to put forward specific requests for the UN High Level Meeting on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) at United Nations.
He is a co-founder and Vice President of Nepal Cancer Support Group (NCSG) and Executive council member of Asian Clinical Oncology Society (ACOS). He is an active member of American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASC0), European Society of Medical Oncology (ESMO), SAARC Federation of Oncology- Nepal Chapter (SFO-N) among others.

Ms. Sworupa Shrestha is a philanthropist, cancer activist, and an entrepreneur who has devoted her life to improving the lives of people in Nepal through her passion for quality service delivery and awareness dissemination.

Ms. Shrestha started her professional journey as a social entrepreneur providing beautician training and employment opportunities to hundreds of women from wide socioeconomic backgrounds in Nepal. She was always an active supporter and participant in awareness campaigns organized by different NGOs, particularly covering women’s health and cancer. Later, when she realized that the society lacked coordinated bottom-up efforts in the field of cancer, she decided to dedicate her life to nurturing a strong support structure for cancer patients and hence founded Uppachar ka Lagi Sahayogi Haatharu. She had joined Nepal Cancer Support Group, an NGO with a mission to provide guidance and support to cancer patients and their families in Nepal as an active executive member . She has also Joined Rotary Club of Yala families. She also taking responsibility as a coordinator of Health committee in Women’s chamber of Commerce, Nepal. Through these organizations, she has been playing an instrumental role in creating a strong network of medical experts, healthcare institutions, cancer survivors, researchers, businessmen, and general supporters to provide the much-needed help to cancer families. As the current treasurer of the Association of Private Health Institution In Nepal (APHIN), she is also directly involved in policy advocacy for healthcare.

Ms. Shrestha is a Co-founder and Director of Nepal Cancer Hospital and Research Center.
