Cancers are diseases involving abnormal cell growth that can spread to other parts of the body. Cancer is not one disease but in fact a collection of more than 100 different diseases that can affect any tissue in the body.
A malignant tumor is cancerous while benign tumors, which do not spread, are not. Cancer is not a communicable disease.
The symptoms of cancer include lumps, prolonged cough, weight loss, change in bowel movement, and abnormal bleeding. These symptoms, however, may have other causes not related to cancer and you are encouraged to visit a doctor for a diagnosis if any of these symptoms affect you.
