Overview

Cancer prevention and control has been the priority as the incidence and prevalence of the cancer cases have been in the rising trend. Especially in the developing countries like ours where the treatment and rehabilitation cannot be afforded by average Nepalese citizen thus efforts must be undertaken to reduce the ever increasing trend. On the face of such situation, prevention and control of cancer should be priority.

General Objective
To undertake Comprehensive Cancer Control Programs

Specific Objectives
•    To provide health education on prevention and active signs of cancer
•    To prepare and distribute different kinds of awareness generating materials
•    To provide trainings on early detection of cancer to the different level of health care professionals in the health system of Nepal and to develop effective and efficient referral system.
•    To conduct screening camps at the hospital and the community level
•    To conduct Vaccination camp in the hospital and the community settings
•    To collaborate/network with other governmental and non-governmental organization with the same objectives
•    To improve quality of life of cancer survivors and cancer patients

Primary Prevention: to avoid occurrences of the cancer

•    Vaccinations
•    Trainings on early detection of cancer
•    Researches

Secondary Prevention: diagnose and treat existent disease in early stages before it causes significant morbidity.
•    Hospital based cancer screening packages
•    Cancer screening camps
•    Trainings on early detection of cancer

Tertiary Prevention: methods to reduce negative impact of existent disease by restoring function and reducing disease related complications
•    Improving quality of life of cancer survivors and cancer patients
